A LITTLE ABOUT THE PIGMENTS
IMPORTANT POST ABOUT PIGMENT!
Today I want to talk about pigments and their role in permanent make up.
There are tons of information about it but among it not that many useful or truthful data. Let’s take a look at this. I am not saying that I know everything about it ( and by the way, do not believe someone who says they do😅) there are so many studies and research still going on and each of them will end up saying “ these studies need additional research”
But here is the basic so you can understand how it works:
There are organic pigments, non-organic pigments, and the mixture between those two. 🌱Organic:
Certified colors are organic and are also known as metal salts. They’re called “lakes” and are listed on ingredient labels as “D&C” ( Drug &Cosmetic)
Non-certified colors are inorganic synthetics. They include zinc oxide, iron oxide, carmine, mica, and ultramarine colors. They’re less intense in color than certified colors. Zinc oxide and iron oxide help with opacity, meaning that they provide a solid color that is not transparent.
Important❗️ All pigments have:
▪️Binder agent in it ▪️Pigment ( organic/non-organic)
▪️solvent ( water/alcohol ) ▪️additives ( preservatives)
According to some studies tattoo pigments have 85% of organic ingredients, 12% of non organic and 3% unknown substance.
The PMU pigments have 84% of organic and 16% non-organic.
At this point we have to understand that everything depends on manufacture and ingredients. Even the order of mixing ingredients together will affect the final product. Choose the most trusted fabrics and look into MSDS SHEET
So you have to know how to read the tattoo label, all the ingredients right now have an explanation if you google them🤓
Also! Make sure you check every pigment for toxic ingredients⚠️ I encourage you – do your research, check , and be aware! Choose and use your pigments smart!
